Why Pakistani Courier Parcels Get Stuck in Transit
Seeing your parcel stuck on the same tracking status for days is frustrating. Here's what's actually happening — and what you can do about it.
The Most Common Reasons for Transit Delays
1. Awaiting a Hub Scan
Pakistani couriers like TCS and Leopards move shipments through sorting hubs in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Between hubs, parcels can sit on trucks or in intake queues for 12–36 hours without a scan. A gap in tracking doesn't mean your parcel is lost — it's often just between scan points.
2. Flight or Vehicle Delay
TCS and Leopards run their own cargo aircraft for overnight city-to-city runs. If a flight is delayed (weather, technical issues, or weight limits), parcels move on the next available flight. This commonly adds 24–48 hours to delivery.
3. Incorrect or Incomplete Address
If the recipient's address is unclear, the delivery rider will attempt once and then hold the parcel at the nearest hub or branch. The tracking may show "in transit" rather than "delivery attempted." Call the courier with your tracking number to update the address.
4. Failed Delivery Attempt
If the recipient wasn't available when the rider came, the parcel is returned to the hub. This is sometimes not reflected immediately in tracking. Check for a missed call from a Pakistan-based number around the expected delivery time.
5. Public Holidays & Peak Periods
Eid, New Year, and major shopping events (11.11, Black Friday) cause significant backlogs at all courier hubs. Expect 2–5 extra days during peak periods.
What To Do When Your Parcel Is Stuck
Step 1 — Check the last scan location and date
On Track My Order, enter your tracking number and check the last scan event. If it was within the last 48 hours, wait — it may just be in transit between hubs.
Step 2 — Call the courier's helpline
| Courier | Helpline | Best Time to Call |
|---|---|---|
| TCS Express | 111-123-456 | 9 AM – 6 PM weekdays |
| Leopards | 0800-00100 / 111-300-786 | 9 AM – 6 PM weekdays |
| M&P Express | 021-111-678-678 | 9 AM – 6 PM weekdays |
| PostEx | Via postex.pk | Submit ticket online |
| Trax | 021-111-118-729 | 9 AM – 6 PM weekdays |
Step 3 — Contact the seller
If you are the buyer, the seller's account with the courier gives them more escalation power than you have as a recipient. Ask the seller to raise a query from their merchant account — this often gets faster action.
Step 4 — File a formal complaint
If 7+ business days have passed with no movement, file a formal lost shipment complaint. Have ready:
- Tracking number
- Booking receipt or order confirmation
- Declared value of the parcel
- Sender's and recipient's contact details
Prevention for Sellers
If you're a seller, these steps reduce transit delays:
- Always verify the recipient's complete address and phone number before booking
- Include a secondary contact number on the shipment
- Use correct weight and dimensions — underdeclared parcels can be held for re-measurement
- Book before the courier's daily cutoff time to catch the overnight flight
